Lifestyle / Sat 27th Oct 2018 am31 06:59am
HARLOW Council’s annual bonfire and firework night event takes place on Sunday 4 November 2018 in Harlow Town Park.
This popular event organised and funded by the Council with support from Great Parndon Community Association has now been running for over 30 years and continues to be one of the biggest free admission events of its type in the region.
The entertainment will begin at 6pm with the Harlow Playhouse music and entertainment stage. The bonfire will be lit by the Chair of Harlow Council, Councillor Maggie Hulcoop, at 6.45pm with the fireworks display following at 7pm.
This event is free admission but donations are welcome for Streets2Homes and The Dolphin Children’s Ward at Princess Alexandra Hospital who will be shaking donation buckets on the night to raise vital funding.
There will be a food and refreshment village and Harlow Steel Band will be entertaining the crowds as they walk through the main entrance.
For the safety of those attending, Fifth Avenue will close at 5.15pm and re-open at 8.30pm.
Limited parking is available on The Showground for Blue Badge holders only arriving before 6.15pm. All other motorists are encouraged to park in the Town Centre car parks or the nearby Train Station car park.
We ask all residents attending to follow these safety rules:
* Do not bring fireworks to the event.
* Be careful with sparklers.
* Wrap up warmly and wear appropriate footwear – The Showground may be muddy.
* Bring a torch.
* Leave pets at home.
* Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times – if children become lost or separated, please report to the Control Tent at the top of the Showground or speak to an event steward.
* Remain behind the safety barriers at all times.
