ON Saturday 27th October, The Harvey Centre held a pirate-themed Haunting Halloween extravaganza. It was a day of pirate pillaging and excitement aboard a cursed ship.

The centre was transformed, with a 3D spooky house and garden positioned on the ground floor – which brave shoppers ventured into for a fright! There was also a family games area, including a selection of Spooky Games such as “Spooky Wrecking Ball Game’, ‘Hoop the Witches Hat’, ‘Catch the Ghost’, Photo Peep Throughs and Crazy Mirrors for everyone to enjoy for free. All of these attractions will be in place until 4th November, outside Burger Priest on the top floor of the centre.

Customers joined Wendy Walk-The-Plank and Penelope Pieces-Of-Eight for a day of haunted pirate ship fun, with treasure chest decorating workshops, sea shanty lingo classes, a real life treasure hunt and fantastic face painting! Make-up artists were on hand to give shoppers the complete pirate look or create glitzy glitter tattoos, henna and other designs of their choice.

Also, The Harlow Playhouse arranged a visit from Freeman Productions and Contexture Theatre. They brought the touring immersive experience ’The Ghost of Chesterton House’ to The Harvey Centre on Friday 27th and Saturday 28th October.

Customers lucky enough to get a ticket had an exclusive experience, as the tragic story unfolded around them in the authentic Victorian dining room setting. After the performance, guests were invited into the conceptual experience, Chesterton House: The Ghost Lounge.

Bryan Young, Centre Manager at The Harvey Centre says, “Halloween is now a huge event in the UK and a celebration our shoppers really love. Every year we want to push the boundaries and offer something unique, fun and memorable and this year’s pirate extravaganza ticked all those boxes.”
