14th annual Courtyard Open competitive exhibition to attract artists from across the region to Hertford – first year under new Courtyard Arts director Kate Davies
Courtyard Arts hosts its annual Courtyard Open exhibition for the 14th year, from 9th to 27th April 2019. Artists are invited to submit work for consideration by an independent panel of judges drawn from the regional arts scene. The judges will award a prize of £200 for the work chosen as Best in Show.
This year’s Open will be the first under the stewardship of Courtyard Arts’ director Kate Davies who took up her role last summer:
“I am hugely excited to welcome artistic talent from Hertford and far beyond to exhibit at Courtyard Arts in my first year as Centre Director. With a bumper crop of artists already signed up for the upcoming Hertford Arts Trail, I can’t wait to see the great range of creativity on show at this highlight of our artistic calendar.” – Kate Davies, Courtyard Arts Centre Director
The Open traditionally attracts applications from amateur and established artists, both locally-based and those from further afield, including London-based artists. Works in 2D and 3D media are assessed anonymously by the judges who will award a prize of £200 for their choice of ‘Best in Show’.
2018’s Best in Show winner Gareth Morgan is following his success at last year’s Open with a solo exhibition at Hertford Theatre gallery entitled ‘Trigon’ in September.
Artists are invited to submit their work to Courtyard Arts Centre 31st March – 3rd April. Further details and application information can be found at www.courtyardarts.org.uk.
