LIVEWIRE WANTS YOUR VOTE TO WIN £36k OF NATIONAL LOTTERY FUNDING
108 talented young people in Harlow are going to be featured on ITV this month.
YOUR vote could see your local community group named a winner in this year’s People’s Projects – make sure you have your say.
108 young actors, dancers and musicians will be showcasing their skills, enthusiasm and commitment in the hope of gaining funding for their project: Livewire Community Youth Theatre. A film crew from ITV visited the group at Harlow Playhouse to capture what Livewire is all about, and the short film showcasing the project will be aired on ITV Anglia (East) News at 6pm on 2nd April, telling local viewers exactly why Livewire deserves to win. The film will also be available online.
To be in with a chance of claiming the top prize, Livewire are asking people to support their bid by visiting the People’s Projects website to vote. Voting opens at 9am on Monday 1 April at www.thepeoplesprojects.org.uk.
Community groups across the country are competing for up to £50,000 of funding to improve the lives of people in their local area. Livewire (a charity offering free performing arts workshops to young people in Harlow since 2001) has been shortlisted for its work bringing young people together to develop their confidence, self esteem and skills. Nationwide, the public is invited to vote for projects in their region. Livewire is one of five projects in Anglia (East) hoping to gain public support.
Becky Bird, Chair of The Livewire Trust, said: “This is an exciting opportunity to raise awareness and support for our work and, with your help, to secure further much-needed funding. We urge local people to get behind us. If successful, this will help us to make an even bigger difference to young people in our local community”
Sam Ashford, Creative Director of Livewire, said: “We believe that the arts should be available to everyone regardless of economic status or ability. We also believe that with a supportive environment all young people can succeed. A grant from The People’s Projects would make a huge difference to young people in our town.”
Joe Ferns, UK Funding Director at The National Lottery Community Fund, said: “As the largest funder of community activity in the UK, we are proud to support groups that are led by the vision, determination and drive of local people to strengthen communities.
In previous years we have seen a wide range of successful projects, from a café supporting young carers to animal-assisted therapy for people living with dementia and the development of a bee-friendly orchard. The People’s Projects is a chance for you to have your say on how National Lottery funding can help your community to thrive.”
The People’s Projects 2019 is open for voting from 1st-15th April. To watch the films and place your vote, visit
