Report from Harlow School Sports Partnership
CONGRATULATIONS to the teams from Church Langley (A) and Nazeing who shared this year’s Brister Cup after a thrilling morning of Rounders. Again the rounders event was held during the school day at Harlow Town CC with 18 teams scheduled to play.
Despite the horrific forecast, the children and staff were superb in getting all the planned matches played; the standard of play was incredibly high throughout, which really helped to speed things up. As we have come to expect the support from the school staff enabled us to ‘rattle’ through an intense schedule and even finish hours ahead of time – just as the horrific weather began to fall. The legacy created by former William Martin teacher, Mrs Angela Brister continues to thrive.
Teams participating were:
Nazeing A, Church Langley A and B, Fawbert and Barnard, Purford Green, St Lukes A, Hare Street A and B, Tanys Dell A and B, Holy Cross, Churchgate A and B, Henry Moore, St Albans, Little Parndon, Cooks Spinney and Roydon.
We would again like to express our thanks to all the parents who came and supported the children, many cheering as best as they could despite the complicated rules! Thanks also to the staff who managed their teams so well and umpired many games so efficiently (Luke Hammond, Cassie Broughton, Lynne Godsave, Monica Jordan and Ray Eastlands); with special thanks to Gill Pardoe and Rebecca Lott (Church Langley) who ‘helped’ David Stacey (SGO) to mark out all the pitches the night before and umpired throughout the event!
