SEVERAL Harlow Running Club members spent a warm and sunny Sunday morning on Southend seafront while competing in the town’s Half Marathon. First home was Jason Fox in 346th place out of 1949 finishers in 1hr 43min 20sec in what was his debut at the distance. He was followed by Sam Carter 370th in 1.43.55, Dionne Jones 373rd in 1.44.05, Mick Maddams 400th in 1.44.58, Tracy Stratford 576th in 1.51.10(PB), Laura Prime 643rd in 1.53.23, Kelly Burgess 707th in 1.55.00, Gary Mead 738th in 1.55.30, Paula Miles 1209th in 2.09.20, Debra Monk 1438th in 2.17.01, Louise Peacock 1515th in 2.20.30, Debbie Cooper 1532nd in 2.21.10, Helen Barnes-Martin 1553rd in 2.22.24 and Lee Walker 1851st in 2.47.29.

Dione Jones, Tracy Stafford and Laura Prime combined to win the 2nd Ladies team prize.

Meanwhile at the St Albans Half Marathon Carinne Jay finished in 257th place out of 1981 finishers in 1.39.43 and John Tennant was 584th in 1.48.40.

At the Hampshire Hoppit Trail Marathon Sean Flynn finished in 168th place out of 359 finishers in 4.44.16.

At the multi-terrain Stansted 10K Rob Lowe finished in 5th place out of 299 finishers in an excellent 38.06, Vicky Steadman was 61st and 2nd Female Vet 35 in 50.03 and Julie Bull 263rd in 1.20.06.

At the Essex Cross Country 10K Series at Aveley Michael Woodruff finished in 14th place out of 173 finishers and 2nd Vet 50 in 41.39.

At the Orion Harriers Forest Five Mile race at Chingford Martyn Coulter finished in 28th place out of 169 finishers in 34.18 and Louise Cootes was 112th in 44.45.

At the Cotswold 113 Middle Distance Triathlon (1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike, 13.1 mile run) Andy Kitson finished in 104th place out of 882 finishers in 4.57.27 a PB by an incredible 1hr 22min. Ben Usher was 236th in 5.22.19(PB), Paul Schroder 273rd in 5.25.47(PB), Josh Shelton 329th in 5.32.40 in his debut at the distance and Kerry Mavris 568th in 6.07.13(PB).

On Saturday morning many more runners were in action at various parkruns including 53 at Harlow.

At Wanstead Flats parkrun Holly Nairn finished in 70th place out of 253 finishers in 24.51.

At Swindon parkrun Wendy Schroder finished in 169th place out of 437 finishers in 27.41 and Paul Schroder was 170th in the same time.

At Enfield parkrun Tracy Stratford finished in 88th place out of 165 finishers in 27.54 and Jason Pite was 110th in 29.50(PB).

At York parkrun Alan Wellbelove finished in 397th place out of 590 finishers in 29.58.

At Great Yarmouth parkrun Terasa Holden finished in 240th place out of 303 finishers in 32.05.

Wednesday of last week saw Harlow Running Club host the 2nd race of 4 in the East Herts and West Essex Mid Week Road Race League Division 2. Harlow men finished 4th out of 6 teams, the women were 5th and overall Harlow were 5th. After 2 rounds Harlow are 6th overall and in danger of relegation to division 3.
