ESSEX Police has applied to put a Romanian man, resident in Harlow, on the sex offenders register, due to an offence that occurred in 1998.

The application submitted to Chelmsford magistrates court is in respect of Marinel Milut, of Moorfields, Harlow.

It states: Application for a notification order on the ground that you have been convicted of a relevant offence, namely rape, on 09/03/1998 at an unspecified Court/Police Station under the law of Romania, a country outside the United Kingdom. And the application applies, in accordance with section 100(2)(a) of the Sexual Offences Act 2003, for a hearing to take place for an interim notification order to be made until the main application is determined.
