FOR the third year running, Harlow’s largest sustainable manufacturing business, O-I is to sponsor the prestigious ‘Employee of the Year’ Award at the Harlow Town Centre Awards.
Organised in partnership with Harlow Council, Phoenix Resource Centre and Strawberry Star Homes, the awards recognise the individuals and teams that make the town centre what it is and celebrate the diverse businesses and services available.
Glassmaker O-I, which has been producing endlessly recyclable glass packaging on Edinburgh Way since 1954, will sponsor the Employee of the Year Award.
Danielle Chandler, Organisational Effectiveness and Talent Management Manager at O-I Harlow, said, “The people are what makes Harlow special. We are proud to offer excellent technical careers, often in partnership with apprenticeships through Harlow College. Sponsoring this award enables us to celebrate some of the other brilliant employees, working in the town centre, whose commitment to customer service and excellence marks them out from the crowd.”
O-I’s renewed commitment to the town centre comes as glassmaking at Harlow is growing. Consumers are becoming more aware of the impact of single use plastic, so a career at O-I is at the edge of technology and innovation as the company seeks to develop glass as the perfect replacement material for many plastic containers.
Entries to the Harlow Town Centre Awards are now open; people and places can be nominated by visiting www.harlowtowncentre.co.uk/awards. Following nominations finalists will be shortlisted and independently voted for and judged. The winners will be presented with their trophies at a ceremony on Tuesday 24th September 2019.
