GCSEs: Passmores Academy celebrates outcome of everyone’s hard work

Education: Secondary / Fri 23rd Aug 2019 at 09:36am

PASSMORES Academy students, staff and parents celebrated their success in their GCSE results on Thursday morning.

Principal Vic Goddard said: “The Passmores community is delighted with the outcome of everyone’s hard work today shown by the GCSE results received by our young people and would like to take the opportunity to congratulate all of the young people and schools across the town for their achievements.

There is no doubt that those that worked the hardest and took the extensive opportunities to extend their knowledge and skills got the results they deserved which is how it should be.

“Every year is different so comparing year to year never works so we strive to make sure that we get the best possible results with the young people that we have. We are, of course, delighted that this year saw significant increases in grades in the core areas of English and maths (the number of students gaining pass grades going up by 9% and 7% respectively) but no less excited about art, food technology, drama and PE that also showed how strong our students are in these subjects. It is also heartening to see so many subjects improve the number of top grades (equivalent to A upwards) achieved; chemistry, history, physics and Spanish to name some.

Being able to give out the results to our students knowing that they have achieved the grades required to take the next step in their lives is amazing; what makes that even more satisfying is knowing that throughout their journey at Passmores they have also been given the opportunities to excel at sport, drama, dance, art and so many other things. The grades are the summit of a magnificent educational journey at Passmores. The staff and governors are so proud of what our young people achieved but most importantly we are proud of who they have become.”

The young people in the picture were our top attaining students with James Moseley and Aurelija Gibaviciute being the highest performing with 17 top grades between them.
