Police install knife arch at Harlow Railway Station

Crime / Tue 17th Sep 2019 at 02:34pm

POLICE Officers were checking train users in Harlow for weapons yesterday as part of a week of action to tackle knife crime as part of Operation Sceptre.

Officers from the Harlow Community Police Team were at Harlow Railway Station yesterday evening (Monday 16 September) along with a knife arch.

Around 50 people went through the arch, which resulted in a number of them being searched, but no weapons were found, the officers went on to the Town centre later in the evening.

Inspector Tony Walker, from the Harlow Community Policing Team, said: “Around 50 people went through the knife arch on Monday and we checked a number of them to see if they had any knives of them.

“We didn’t find any knives and that’s really positive as it means the people we saw weren’t carrying weapons.

“We are taking action every day to tackle knife crime and identify those carrying weapons and this is just another way we are protecting Essex and keeping people safe.”

All this did was delay commuters returning home after a days work. This was obviously a PR stunt look forward to it being set up on a Friday and Saturday night. As they a far more likely to find something.
