Pre-bookable community bus service proving to be great success in Harlow

A PRE-bookable community bus service serving the Harlow area is proving to be a great success since it was launched by Epping Forest Community Transport.

Last month (September) some 452 passengers travelled on the Hi-Bus (Harlow’s Integrated Shopper Bus), the new flexible bus service within Harlow.

Hi-Bus is a local service (under 15 miles) that travels to one or more local communities or neighbourhoods within a specific geographical area.

There may be fixed sections of the route but most of the route is flexible.

The Harlow Hi-Bus service operates within the boundaries of Harlow, Monday-Friday 9am to 5pm and covers Harlow town centre, Harlow Bus Station, Princess Alexandra Hospital and other locations within the town.

Epping Forest Community Transport manager Angela Canham said: “We have been running the Hi-Bus service for three months now and it is proving to be a valuable service for people wanting to get around Harlow, including for shopping trips and medical appointments.

“We are keen to spread the word about the Hi-Bus service and would encourage more people to make use of the routes in the coming months. ”

Passengers can pre-book their journey 72 hours in advance by ringing 01279 798876 Monday-Friday between 9.30am and 12.30pm.

Passengers will need to be flexible with their times.

Passengers can use their concessionary bus pass by showing the details to the driver or paying £4.20.
Passengers using concessionary passes need to ring the office giving their details, including concessionary pass number/or they can give the full details to the driver.
The general public can access the service if they see it in their area by hailing it along its route or at the bus stop, cost at £4.20 or use their concessionary bus pass.
