A THIEF involved in a crime group that targeted cash machines, cars and homes has been jailed for six-and-a-half years.

It follows an investigation by the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate into a series of cross border commercial and dwelling burglaries, car thefts and ATM thefts.

These offences spanned numerous counties including Essex, Hertfordshire, Surrey, Cambridgeshire, Thames Valley and London between 24 March 2018 and 5 March 2019.

Tommy Mitchell, 19, of Fern Hill Lane, Harlow, was sentenced at Chelmsford Crown Court on Friday 25 October for conspiracy to commit commercial burglaries, conspiracy to commit dwelling burglaries and conspiracy to handle stolen goods.

Eight of his associates were jailed on Friday 18 October.

Their sentences were amended at Chelmsford Crown Court on Friday 25 October.

Walter Mitchell Junior, 22, of Fern Hill Lane, Harlow, was sentenced to six-and-a-half years.
Shane Stanley, 37, and Walter Mitchell Senior, 42, both of Fern Hill Lane, Harlow, were sentenced to seven-and-a-half years.
Levi Mitchell, 35, and William Mitchell, 30, both of Fern Hill Lane, Harlow; and Jack Mitchell, 20, of Kingsmoor Road, Harlow, were sentenced to five years and nine months.
Sid Clark, 32, of Broadfield Harlow, and Ross Whitford, 24, of Rock Lane, Hastings, were sentenced to three years and four months.

The judge also granted Serious Crime Prevention Orders against Shane Stanley, Walter Mitchell Senior, Tommy Mitchell and Levi Mitchell. These will last for five years upon their release from prison.
