Buildbase FA Vase 3rd Round

Stowmarket Town 4 Stansted 0

The last ESL team left in the FA Vase were removed at a canter in front of 429 people on Saturday. The hosts took the lead in the 9th minute via Matthew Blake and the hosts went on to score twice more before the half-time break with Joshua Mayhew’s 23rd minute goal being added to seven minutes later by a Dean Bowditch strike. There was to be one further goal added to the tally which came via a Luke Read goal deep into stoppage time.

Premier Division

Enfield 0 Clapton 0

It was a point apiece at the Prokit UK Stadium as Enfield battled Clapton in a game between two sides circling the lower reaches of the table. The goalless draw, meaning clean sheets for Enfield’s Alex Jennings and Clapton’s William Hunt, means that the two teams remain in the same positions as they were at the start of play, 16th in Enfield’s case, with Clapton two places lower in 18th. The other game between teams in the bottom four involved Southend Manor against Sawbridgeworth Town.

Hadley 3 St Margaretsbury 1

Keep an eye on Hadley as the Bricks are now on a twelve game unbeaten run that has thrust them up to 3rd in the table. Alfie Bartram handed the hosts the lead, firing home the rebound after Stephen O’Hara’s initial shot was saved. Then having taken the lead, the Bricks then added a second soon afterwards as manny Hammond linked up well with Solomon Ofori before firing home his shot to place his lead well and truly in the driving seat. Shaz Anwar added a third in the second half, while St Margaretsbury went on to hit the post twice before finally scoring a consolation when Wisley Baltazar fired home a penalty.

Saffron Walden Town 3 Takeley 2

Saffron Walden Town are up to 2nd after they beat Takeley 3-2 at Caton Lane. However it was the visitors, who started the day in 3rd who opened the scoring, doing so in the 2nd minute when Charncey Dash rifled home a penalty. Charlie Cole levelled up in the 35th minute before the Bloods were handed the lead just past the hour by George Pullen. Spike Bell extended that lead in the 73rd minute but a minute later Takeley pulled one back via Lewis Deamer. However Saffron Walden held on to leap-frog their way up to 2nd, two points behind leaders Hashtag United. Takeley meanwhile drop down to 5th.

Southend Manor 1 Sawbridgeworth Town 1

With the other game involving teams in the bottom four ending in a draw means that the point shared here by 17th-placed Southend Manor and bootom-placed Sawbridgeworth Town keeps them both in the same position. Jordan Chambers notched the Southend goal, while Jake Skeet was the Sawbridgeworth scorer.

Sporting Bengal United 1 Hoddesdon Town 1

Sporting Bengal United and Hoddesdon Town shared the spoils after a 1-1 draw at Mile End Stadium. The hosts were handed an early lead by Curtley McIntosh but the Lillywhites were able to level up via an Isaac Marfo-Jacobs goal in the 80th minute. Sporting Bengal end the day in 13th, while Hoddesdon Town sit 6th.

Walthamstow 0 Hashtag United 1

The top two battled it out at Wadham Lodge and in a tense, tight battle it was a late goal that won it for the leaders. Both defences had kept a tight rein on things, meaning it was a game of few clear cut chances. However in the second minute of stoppage time George Smith burst throuhg and had a shot saved by James Bransgrove but Joshua Osude pounced on the rebound to hand his side a wafer-thin victory over their title rivals. Hashtag now lead the table by two points, while Walthamstow slip down to 4th.

West Essex 0 Redbridge 1

The Motormen won the points as much by Florin Gislette as they were by Tom Harvey. Gislette, the Redbridge keeper, pulled off two great saves in the first half to keep West Essex at bay, and then in the 77th minute Tom Harvey unleashed a spectacular shot that broke the deadlock and as it panned out secured the points that moves Redbridge up to 9th, while West essex drop to 12th.
