A LOCAL choir is searching for new members to enlarge their numbers.

The 30 strong Three Valleys Male Voice Choir, who operate in West Essex, East Herts, North London and further afield is embarking on a new development programme by inviting not only new beginners to its folds but extending an invitation to experienced singers, whether soloists or members of operatic groups, who only perform a limited number of concerts each year.

The TVMVC perform some 20 concerts per year, half of them as fund-raising events to benefit local and national charities, usually on a Saturday evening, but sometimes on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon with a High Tea included.
The other 10 concerts are held on a Wednesday afternoon in elderly persons homes and day centres. The High Tea Afternoons are becoming very popular during the winter months, when the evenings are not too dark for the elderly.

The choir’s repertoire is very varied, something for all tastes! Along with the 30 enthusiastic men, the choir offer a professional duo who play classical and light pieces on flute, piccolo, guitar and banjo. Roland and Alicia have performed at many major concert halls throughout the country.

Each October the choir has an Away Weekend where they stay together at a hotel, along with their partners and supporters and perform concerts at local venues.

In 2020 their base will be at ‘Potters Holiday Resort’ in Norfolk.

A Special Open Evening is being staged for Tuesday 14th January at Waltham Abbey Baptist Church where interested men can go along to experience a rehearsal session, sit back and listen or take part. Music and words are provided and a free cup of tea or coffee is on offer along with a chocolate biscuit!

The choir is always at the church hall each Tuesday 7pm until 9.30pm, so if you cannot make this special evening you can go along at any other time, where you will be assured of a warm welcome.
