Harlow’s golden girl Jo Harten awarded MBE in New Year Honours

ENGLAND Netball player Jo Harten from Harlow has been given an MBE in the New Year Honours list.

Jo won a Gold Medal in the Commonwealth Games of 2018 when England won a famous last second victory against favourites Australia.

Jo was born and brought up in Harlow, going to St Alban’s and St Mark’s schools. Jo played for Harlow Netball club, Tegate, before moving up all the way to England, where she has played over a hundred times.

Reacting to the news, Jo Harten said: “I’m in a bit of shock still, it doesn’t feel real. It’s a massive honour, obviously I play netball for my country and I’m proud to represent England and to get an hour like this I’m very privileged.
