Harlow Judo Club show promise at UEL
Football / Sun 26th Jan 2020 am31 10:11am
A DEVELOPMENT event organised by the London Judo area held at the University of East London proved to be a very good event for Harlow Judo Club.
The event was very well attended with the aim being to give low grade players (many fighting for the first time) a great experience with a fair chance of having a good result.
To achieve this the London area came up with grade (belt colour) and age groups outside of the standard groups used at such events.
The groups however suited the Harlow novice players very well and a very confident senior coach (Mick Ellis) and team left for the event held on Saturday 18th January 2020.
The event was very well run, and the London area officials kept things ticking over nicely.
The UEL is a fantastic venue on the banks of the river Thames opposite the city airport, a nice place for a break between bouts.
From a team of 11 players Harlow managed a fantastic 5 Gold medals, I silver and 4 bronze. With nerves getting the better of one of our youngest players and did not compete.
The medal winners were: –
Gold
Millie Morgan
Connor Muffett
Lawrence Conyard
Sorin Petricia
Ben Webb
Silver
Laura Mae Beavis
Bronze
Jack Loft
Zak Carter
Harry Gunn
James Franks
