Harlow Spring Clean 2020
HARLOW Council is encouraging residents to take pride in their community by taking part in this year’s Great British Spring Clean.
The event, which runs from 20 March to 13 April, aims to bring together individuals, community organisations, businesses and schools to make a difference to the environment on our doorstep.
To support this initiative, the council is providing the use of litter picking equipment and arranging the removal of rubbish collected. Community groups, residents’ association, charities and schools will also receive £100.
Councillor Danny Purton, Harlow Council’s Portfolio Holder for Environment, said: “Last year’s spring clean was a huge success thanks to the amazing community spirit and achievements of Harlow residents.
“Over 1900 people selflessly gave their time to help organise and take part in the clean-up of their home town, collecting over 400 bags of litter and raising over £5500 for local community organisations, schools and charities.
“The council has also been nominated as a finalist in the Great British Spring Clean category of the Keep Britain Tidy Network Awards 2020, which recognises councils that helped promote, engage and deliver the campaign.
“With all this success we still believe we can go bigger and better this year and by working together, residents, the council and HTS can help make Harlow a more pleasant place to live.”
Each clean-up will be in addition to the everyday work HTS do to keep Harlow town clean.
