The Harvey Centre Hosts Free Kids’ Yoga for Mental Health Awareness Week

THIS year, The Harvey Centre, Harlow is acknowledging Children’s Mental Health Awareness Week with the chance for the little ones to enjoy FREE yoga taster sessions with local company, ‘Yes Yoga’, on the Ground Floor of the Centre.

On Saturday 8th February, youngsters aged 3-13 years will have the opportunity to be taken through some gentle yoga exercises as well as breathing techniques to help with meditation and mindfulness to support good mental health.

The 30-minute sessions will run every hour, on the hour, between 11am and 3pm, and are limited to 15 spaces per session, operating on a first come, first served basis.

The Harvey Centre will also welcome YCT Support to the Centre, who will be on hand to offer information and advice to families on how they can help with youth mental health.

YCT is a person-centred organisation, offering a range of therapies to children including theraplay, art and drama therapies and talking therapies. Their trained and experienced counsellors are friendly and welcoming and won’t make judgements about the child or their problems – offering a valuable outlet to youngsters experiencing mental health issues.

Bryan Young, Centre Manager at The Harvey Centre says, “Mental ill-health is such a poignant issue across every generation, but the younger generations can often be overlooked, which is why we wanted to draw attention to the issue through our partnership with local organisations that can offer support to youngsters struggling with their mental wellbeing.”
