ON Saturday 8th February, The Harvey Centre, Harlow acknowledged Children’s Mental Health Awareness Week with the chance for the little ones to enjoy FREE yoga taster sessions with local company, ‘Yes Yoga’, on the Ground Floor of the Centre.

Youngsters aged 3-13 years had the opportunity to be taken through some gentle yoga exercises as well as breathing techniques to help with meditation and mindfulness to support good mental health.

The 30-minute sessions ran every hour, on the hour, between 11am and 3pm and enjoyed a great turnout throughout the day.

Further workshops, which had the theme ‘Find your brave’ encouraged mindfulness as the children were asked to colour in motivational quotes. They could also write or draw something that makes them happy and hang it on the Wellbeing Tree.

The Harvey Centre also welcomed YCT Support to the Centre, who were on hand to offer information and advice to families on how they can help with youth mental health.

Bryan Young, Centre Manager at The Harvey Centre says, “We’re thrilled at the turnout for this event. It’s an issue that is so commonly overlooked, so it is great that we were able to shine a light on it and help raise awareness within the local community with a great range of free activities.”
