Passmores Academy art students get an insight into modern art
PASSMORES’ Year 11 GCSE Art students enjoyed a chance to spread their creative wings on a trip to the Tate Modern and Borough Market at London’s South Bank recently.
As part of the research they must conduct for their exam portfolio, the students took in the vibrant sights of the market and the intriguing displays of modern art at the gallery. This was a valuable chance for them to gain a cultural and contextual awareness of art in a real-life environment.
Head of department, Claire Friedner said: ‘We aim to develop our students’ thinking skills by analysing and evaluating artists, designers, craftspeople and movements in art history to expand and broaden their own opinions. These experiences enhance and enrich our students’ learning, whilst also inspiring them in their own practice.’
