Update on Registration Services
THE Essex County Council Registration Service remains open, however this is now on a restricted basis.
Chelmsford, Colchester and Harlow Registration offices remain open, but all other offices are now closed following Government guidance, including Basildon.
The registration team is working hard to contact everyone with booked appointments.
The service is awaiting guidance from the Government on whether registrations can take place over the phone and those with bookings will be contacted accordingly.
Following the Prime Minister’s announcement last night (23 March) that gatherings of more than two people are not permitted, the Registration Service is now unable to support any wedding, civil partnership or citizenship ceremony at this time.
Those with ceremonies booked in the coming weeks will be contacted by the registration team. To help them prioritise the most urgent contacts, please do not call them. They will be in touch.
See births, ceremonies and deaths for information about how to register a birth or death and other registration services.
The latest advice on coronavirus (COVID-19) is available on the Public Health England (PHE) and NHS websites.
You can find out about impacts on our services on the Essex County Council website.
