Letter to Editor: Chief executive of Harlow Council responds to proposal for memorial
Harlow Council / Sat 2nd May 2020 at 08:28am
Dear Sir,
Plans in hand to remember front line workers
I WOULD like to thank Nicholas Taylor for his suggestion that a permanent memorial is created in future in memory of all those who worked in the NHS and other front line services who have lost their lives whilst trying to keep the rest of us safe.
In Harlow the community has been united in expressing its gratitude to the NHS and other front line workers who are working selflessly to keep us all safe. I can confirm that the council is already considering ideas for what would be a fitting tribute to those working on the front line and that have died as a result of coronavirus (Covid-19). Both residents and our staff have suggested ideas, which include a tribute garden and other landscape planting schemes in areas around the town. These ideas are being considered and developed further by staff from our Environment & Planning team.
I welcome further suggestions from residents on what else would be appropriate and these suggestions can be emailed for consideration to [email protected]
Many thanks
Brian Keane
Chief Executive
Harlow Council
