Hospice’s Virtual Quiz Nights bring ‘local eggheads’ together whilst raising hundreds
ST Clare Hospice’s latest digital fundraising venture has included a series of Virtual Quiz Nights, which have brought together pub trivia enthusiasts from across the local community and beyond to help raise vital funds for the charity during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Hosted by the charity’s in-house quizmaster, Community Fundraiser, Dan Bailey, the quizzes have so far raised an astonishing £1,500 in vital funds for the West Essex and East Hertfordshire hospice – with thanks to over 160 participants taking part in the first two events. The charity has had quizzers tune in from as far afield as Morocco to play their online fundraising quiz.
Now, with their latest target to raise more than £3,000 in the next two months through the popular quizzing events, the Hospice announces their third Virtual Quiz Night to be hosted on Thursday 21st May 2020.
“With such amazing engagement in our first two Virtual Quiz Nights, we are simply meeting the demands of the public by hosting more of these fun events!” says Dan Bailey, who courageously stepped up to the challenge of hosting both quizzes after just two weeks on the job.
“We’re so excited that the Virtual Quiz Nights are taking off,” Dan continues. “They’re such a great opportunity for people to come together as a community, and take part in something light-hearted and enjoyable from home. The feedback we’ve had has been amazing; people are so grateful to have something fun to do during these difficult times – all whilst supporting their local front line hospice charity.”
Dan adds, “Thank you so much to everyone who has made our Virtual Quiz Nights such a success so far. We’ll keep them running as often as we can to keep up with people’s desires for events like these. We can’t wait to see you at our next one on Thursday 21st May, at 7pm!”
St Clare’s next Virtual Quiz Night is set to take place from 7-8.30pm via video conferencing service, Zoom, on Thursday 21st May. Players take part from the comfort of their own home, joining together in household teams, and log on to compete with up to 100 other contestants online. Entry costs £3 per person with all proceeds going to support the vital work of the Hospice’s clinical teams who are still working around the clock on the front line.
