Plan for two storey extension to A and E Department at PAH in Harlow

Health / Sun 5th Jul 2020 at 10:03am

A PLANNING application has been submitted for a two storey building to support the Accident and Emergency Department at Princess Alexandra Hospital in Harlow.

The application is as follows:

To develop a two story modular building on the North Car Park adjacent to the Charnley Ward. This development is to provide a Medical Assessment Unit (MAU) and Urgent Treatment Center (UTC) to support the A&E department.

The building is to have external cladding panels fitted to blend with the main Hospital Building, with the ground floor clad with brickwork panels to match the lower aspect of the Hospital entrance and Cedar wood panels for the first floor to blend with the zinc finish in the same location.

The use modular over traditional is to allow for an quick site installation time and therefore reduce the disruption to the Car Park on site which is to be expected, but also to allow for a short dismantling period once the new hospital has been completed. This is a temporary solution for the next five years whilst the new hospital is created.

Car parking spaces are to be re-provided on a temporary facility at the old Social Club site. | Medical Assessment Unit And Urgent Treatment Centre Development Hamstel Road Harlow.
