Looking ahead – Harlow nursery hosts MP Robert Halfon

Robert Halfon, local MP and Chair of the Education Select Committee visited a nursery in Harlow to discuss the future needs of the early years sector.

The team at Busy Bees in Harlow, on The Greenway, virtually welcomed Robert Halfon MP and Chair of the Education Select Committee, for an in-depth discussion about future-proofing the nursery sector. 

After meeting Louise Christie, the Centre’s Director, and Busy Bees Chief Academic Officer and Founder, Marg Randles ,the MP was given a virtual tour of the facilities before discussing the needs of nurseries across the country, the challenges they are currently facing, especially in light of the pandemic, and how we ensure the sustainability of the sector for future generations.  

Following his virtual visit to Busy Bees in Harlow, Robert Halfon MP said: “I was delighted to be on an extraordinary tour of Busy Bees Nursery. The staff are working day and night to ensure top quality education. I would like to pay tribute to Busy Bees and all of the staff involved. It was good to see children learning and carrying out exercises. I look forward to being able to do a real visit once restrictions allow.”

Louise Christie, Centre Director at Busy Bees in Harlow, said: “It was our pleasure to be able to speak with Robert Halfon MP and give him a virtual tour of our lovely facilities here in Harlow. 

“This year has been challenging for nurseries across the country, so we are incredibly grateful for the opportunity to discuss how to work towards a more sustainable future through the lens of funding and innovation. This was an enriching conversation – it was great to be able to share our thoughts on how to give every child the best possible start in life.”
