Lockdown doesn’t prevent Gilden Park resident buying his dream home

LEE Carter, 28 from Essex secured his forever home at Gilden Park in Harlow, despite not being able to view it first. Lee said: “Just because we are in lockdown, it does not mean the whole world has to come to a complete stop. My dream is to own my own property and it just so happens the pandemic tried to get in my way, but it didn’t stop me.”

He claims that the lockdown did not affect him reserving the property at all as everything was done over the phone, quickly and easily.

Lee chose Gilden Park because he has fond childhood memories of the area and appreciates all the perks of buying a new build. He said: “I love the idea of going into a property and everything has already been done for you. It is bright, fresh, new and exciting and you can add your own design to it!”

Lee moved into the one-bedroom shared ownership apartment earlier this year, during the first wave of the pandemic. He was living in South East London and in a stressful lockdown situation, but has now moved closer to his new partner and friends in a property he can call his own.

Lee said: “I have heard very good things about Barratt Homes and the quality of their service and builds and this has been proven throughout the process.

“Bearing in mind there was a pandemic going on, the communication has been spot on and answered every little question I had with professionalism and in a timely manner. So what I had been told about Barratt Homes was indeed correct.”

Karly Williams, Sales Director for Barratt Homes North Thames, said: “Our sales staff have been brilliantly innovative and adaptive throughout these uncertain times. As we try to sustain the ‘new normal’ we’re proud that we have maintained the kind of professional and efficient work we are celebrated for.”

Buying a new property during such uncertain times can be a daunting task, but Lee has proven that it may be much easier than expected. Lee said: “I needed something positive and reassuring to keep me going through the tough time. It has given me something to really look forward to and something to aim towards. Also, interest rates are low currently so you have to take advantage of that!”

Gilden Park is a popular new community in Old Harlow, with a range of three and four bedroom homes available. This sought after development has excellent commuter links, good and outstanding schools nearby, as well as a new school and community amenities coming soon.
