St Mark’s Sixth Formers Aim High
STUDENTS with the highest of aspirations are celebrating at St Mark’s, with a record number applying to the Russell Group of universities.
The Russell Group are the top 24 universities in the UK, renowned for academic excellence and high-quality research.
Among the students are Daniel Till who was recently interviewed for a place at Downing College, Cambridge, to read Human, Social and Political Sciences, and George Sapcaliu, who has applied to Imperial College, London, to read Aerospace Engineering.
Both pupils praised the advice and encouragement given to them by teachers and the pastoral team at St Mark’s. “I am very grateful for all the support and help the sixth form leadership team and my subject teachers have given me throughout my university application process,” said Daniel.
“They provided me with guidance on what I should include in my personal statement as well as completing the final checks before submission to UCAS.
This support continued right through to the week of my interview with the University of Cambridge, which included arranging mock interviews to help with my preparation. Their advice has been invaluable, and it has been reassuring to know that I could rely on the school.”
George added “To apply to universities such as these, you need to have an expertly-crafted personal statement that will stand out from everybody else’s.
Luckily for me , I had the support of my teachers who helped me throughout every step of the way. They gave me professional advice and offered their own time to ensure my personal statement was up to the required standard”
