Essex Police: The public must be sensible but officers won’t be policing Christmas lunch tables

ESSEX Police officers won’t be policing the number of guests people have for Christmas lunch but the public must be sensible, Essex Police Federation has said.

Essex moving into the strictest Tier 4 regulations will see the county’s officers maintain their ‘four E’ lockdown tactics of engaging with people, explaining the rules and encouraging them to stick to them before considering enforcement.

Essex Police Federation Chair Laura Heggie told BBC Radio Five live that officers would likely only go straight to enforcement to deal with blatant rule breakers and those holding mass gatherings.
