Covid-19: How many over-50’s in Harlow are awaiting the vaccine?

News / Thu 31st Dec 2020 at 11:17am

WE just had a quick dip into the census of 2011 to have a look at the age breakdown for Harlow.

We did this because we wanted to see roughly how many people over fifty would need to receive the first vaccination in Harlow.

According to the census, there were 25,938 residents over the age of 50. Old Harlow had then biggest cohort at 2,622. Church Langley the lowest with 1960.

There were 3688 residents over the age of 80. Netteswell had the highest number with 465 and Church Langley the lowest with 115.

With the good news regarding the vaccines, we do hope that all these people can be vaccinated in 2021.

We do think the right mindset (if you are over 50) would be to hope for May and anything else is a bonus.

Let us hope.

I am vulnerable and 80 my husband is 79 and we are still waiting for an appointment to have the Covid vaccine we both have underline health issues, though I could not stand for 1.1/2 hours in this freezing weather at Lister House as those vulnerable people did yesterday with no comprehension of safe distancing rules.
