Sir,
Brexit: Seven things changing on January 1st
SO the statement: “Exact same benefits as EU membership” as promised by David Davis in 2017 was a lie. If we had the “exact same benifits” then there would not be “Seven things changing on January 1st”. There are many, many more than seven things changing. These seven things do not include the changes to food exports – seed spuds and sausages cannot now be exported, for example. “Exact same benefits” remember.

How about the requirement for hauliers to have the correct paperwork before entering Kent. I remember a lot of talk about taking back control of borders. I don’t remember them mentioning thnat border would be with Kent. Or in the Irish sea.
“If you want to buy or sell with the EU, things get trickier”
No, no, it doesn’t. Remember, this deal has the “Exact same benefits as EU membership”, right? Or was this yet another Brexit broken promise? Of course, only an idiot would say that the extra red tape would be a good thing.
“Northern Ireland becomes an exception”
But, but, Boris said in May this year “There’s no question of there being checks on goods going NI/GB or GB/NI”. Boris even made this an election promise – “There’s no question of there being checks on goods going from Northern Ireland to Great Britain or Great Britain to Northern Ireland”.
So that would be another lie then.
I have every confidence that they are the only lies that were told by the Leave campaign. Afterall, “The deal will ‘intensify’ security” was true, right? No, another lie. Boris’ last minute “oven ready” deal does not allow access to the Schengen Information System 2 (SIS2) to allow police and the security services to track threats. Another lie.
But it’s not all bad news – the £350M a week to be given to the NHS is still real. It was written on the side of a bus so it must be true. Please don’t tell me this is yet another lie.
Regards
K Tomlin
