THE PORTFOLIO holder for regeneration in Harlow has responded to criticism after the council failed in its bid for money to regenerate the town centre.

He was responding after criticism from the Harlow Conservative group as well as by members of the Harlow Alliance Party.
Councillor Tony Durcan said: “We don’t actually know the reasoning for the government decision not to support Harlow Application.
We have been offered a formal feed back session ,so not sure how the author is suddenly an expert on Tory government decision.
The bid was ambitious about bringing the Harvey centre and water gardens shopping experience together.
The bid was building an art and cultural pathway via the playhouse square to connect both.
This would have included business units as well as pop up shops. Places to sit and watch the world. New homes for key workers.
Providing quality safe space.
Could I suggest the author might have some credibility if they had actually read the criteria as well as the application instead of the Daily Mail.
The council can’t destroy property that we don’t own either.
We remain proud of the application, just because the government reduced the funding and changed the criteria it doesn’t take away our towns ambition and aspirations.
We will listen and reflect but have my assurance we will continue in our collective desire to have a town centre that support our current and future community
That is accessible for entertainment, leisure and pleasure. A safe and secure space
“Open to all, and accessible to all”.
