I would like to put on record my enormous thanks to the many, many people who had to work over the festive period – a time which under normal circumstances, they would have taken as annual leave and used to rest and spend time with family and friends.

I’m thinking particularly of head teachers but there are many others who were not able to switch off mentally or physically at the end of a gruelling year.  

I’m sure many would join me in thanking them all.
