Covid-19: Harlow sees first drop in number of cases for nine days

THE NUMBER of infections in Harlow has dropped.

Let us be clear, this is compared to the figures for January 2nd.

It is still the second highest figure to date.

As stated before, there has been dips before, for example of December 30th compared to December 29th.

We make no excuse for highlighting any glimmer of hope.

Harlow registered 1215 cases which is a a rate of 1395.5 cases per 100,000.

There were 1249 on January 2nd

This is still 23,2% increase comparing January 2nd to December 27th.

This continues to confirm that we may be in a for a very difficult January and underline why the authorities have declared that the whole county has to be treated as the scene of a “major incident”.

YH understands that there are 179 Covid in-patients, including 16 on ventilators.

There are 78 outstanding test results.

There are now 10 Covid wards at PAH. Lister, Locke, Penn, Harold, Kingsmoor, Charnley, John Snow, Henry Moore and ITU.

Tuesday: 1289.8 cases per 100,000

Monday: 1281.8 cases per 100,000

Sunday: 1188.7 cases per 100,000

Saturday: 1093.4 cases per 100,000

Thursday: 1016.5 cases per 100,000

Remember, these figures relate to January 3rd and not today (January 8th).

On November 19th it was 251st out of 315 local authorities. Then the rate started to rise and it climbed up the chart. By November 30th, it was in 53rd place.

The infection rate tells a similar story. Back on September 30th it was 29.9. October 16th: 68.9. November 8th: 118.3. November 22nd it was 206.7. December 2nd it was 221.7.
