Harlow College boss expresses concerns over students’ mental health

THE Principal of Harlow College has spoken to MPs regarding her concerns for the mental health of her students.

Karen Spencer made a presentation to the education committee, which happens to be chaired by Harlow MP Robert Halfon.

Ms Spencer told the committee that “In an induction survey more than 60 per cent of students said that Covid was having an impact on their mental health”

She also added that there is also an impact on staff mental health.

Mrs Spencer also told the committee that there was great engagement with mental health services including West Essex Mind.

The Harlow College Principal also spoke on a number of other matters including apprenticeships and left behind white pupils from disadvantaged pupils.
