Covid-19: Harlow’s infection rate drops for fourteenth day in a row
News / Wed 27th Jan 2021 at 05:28pm

HARLOW has seen another large drop in it is infection rate.
The figure for January 22nd is 597.2 per 100,000.
That is a drop of 29.5% on seven days previously.
That is another large drop and the fourteenth day in a row we have seen a fall.
What should be seen as reassuring for Harlow residents is how consistent the fall is.
Today it is decline of 24.
In the previous seven days, the number of cases in Harlow has declined by: 21, 50, 27, 33, 26, 20, 53 and 20.
We think everyone could put up with this boring consistency.
The total number of cases is 520.
That is a fall of 804 cases since the “peak” on January 9th
This is the lowest rate since December 21stwhen Harlow had 572 cases.
Harlow is now 21st out of 315 local authorities.
It is the highest in Essex however, as you can see below, many other areas in Essex and on our border seem to have made much faster progress in the decline of their infection rates.
Remember this refers to January 22nd but published on January 27th.
This still continues to confirm that we are in a very difficult January and underline why the authorities have declared that the whole county has to be treated as the scene of a “major incident”.
Yes, this is still good news but no-one should be under any illusion that we are in for a long haul. At this rate, it is going to take some time to get the rate down below 100 per 100,000.
If this is a “constant” decline then that could be the end of February.
YH understands that there are 127 Covid in-patients, including 12 on ventilators.
There are 98 outstanding test results.
There are now 10 Covid wards at PAH. Lister, Locke, Penn, Harold, Kingsmoor, Charnley, John Snow, Henry Moore and ITU.
