Covid-19: South African variant: Questions raised over Broxbourne residents travelling to Harlow for vaccine

Health / Wed 3rd Feb 2021 at 12:29pm

HARLOW councillors have expressed their concerns regarding Broxbourne residents travelling to Harlow to receive a Covid-19 vaccination.

The concerns were raised at a virtual Covid-19 meeting on Tuesday night.

The comments were made because it has been reported that a new South African variant of Covid has been found in the postcode area EN10.

Part of that postcode borders with Harlow near Roydon.

Council leader Mark Ingall told the group that he had been contacted by a resident who has a relative in Broxbourne.

Cllr Ingall said: “There is an inconsistency in being told to stay at home but then receive a letter inviting you to travel from Broxbourne to Harlow for a vaccine.”

“I have asked our chief executive, if there are plans to set up a satellite centre in Broxbourne?”

Mr Brian Keane said: “There is meeting on Wednesday morning between Essex and Hertfordshire and I will report back.

You can follow the discussion from the 23rd minute below.

Below is a letter sent to EN10 residents.
