FOLLOWING an exchange of letters last week, the Leader of the Harlow Conservatives, Cllr Andrew Johnson, has again written to the Leader of Harlow Council, Cllr Mark Ingall, asking for urgent clarity for Harlow’s businesses.
Cllr Johnson’s letter said “In your letter dated Friday 5 February 2021 you guaranteed that “all businesses will have received a decision by Friday the 11th of February.””Today is the 11th of February. Therefore, can you please confirm that all businesses in Harlow that are referred to above have now received a decision?”
The letter also responded to Cllr Ingall’s claim that businesses such as mobile hairdressers were missing out on Government grants because of the “the grant requirement set out by the Conservative Government”.
Cllr Johnson explained that he believes this to be “untrue” and makes clear that “the Additional Restrictions Grant scheme is a discretionary scheme. The Gov.uk site makes clear “Local councils have the freedom to determine the eligibility criteria for these grants”.”
Cllr Johnson has asked for an immediate response.
