Conservatives promise to “immediately cut Council Tax for Harlow residents”

THE Harlow Conservatives have set out their plan to cut district Council Tax immediately if they win the local elections in May. They pledge to hold an “urgent review” of Council budgets to “immediately cut Council Tax for Harlow residents”.

Shadow Finance Spokesman and Sumners and Kingsmoor Councillor, Russell Perrin said: “Under Labour, Council Tax in Harlow has increased by £377 per year – to pay for their chaos. And it is going up again.

“If you vote Conservative in May, you are voting to cut your Council tax so you keep more of your hard earned money. But a Conservative vote also means building back better by:

  1. Strengthening our NHS with a brand new Harlow hospital, more nurses and more doctors
  2. Cutting your Council Tax so you keep more of your hard earned money
  3. Building an even better Harlow with up to £76 million to regenerate the whole town
  4. Investing in our schools and college with 7 major school building upgrades, higher per pupil funding and £3 million to upgrade Harlow College
  5. Making our streets safer with more police to tackle anti-social behaviour
  6. Delivering Harlow homes for Harlow people so every family has the home they deserve

“Your vote will decide the future of Harlow, and the choice is clear: same old Labour making you pay for their chaos or a Council Tax cut and building back better with the Conservatives.”

Ha! Obviously the Conservative group have found the magic money tree and the leprechaun's pots of gold. How can Councillors look two ways at once, voting for increases of taxes at county levels and complaining about a small increase locally, especially in these times? Jumping up and down on this just makes the party look silly and hypocritical. How about sticking to putting out some clear policies and plans for the the future so the electorate can truly judge who to vote for? Sniping doesn't cut the mustard it just makes it look as if the group doesn't have policies that hold water.

Just read your piece about Norman Watt-Roy. I have to correct you as he never went to Brays Grove School, He went to the old Passmores in Tendering Road. Was in the year below me. His Brother Garth also went to Passmores. David Court.
