News / Mon 15th Feb 2021 at 11:24am
WE would like to wish Norman Watt-Roy a happy 70th birthday.
Norman was brought up in Harlow. He went to William Martin Primary and then Passmores.
Most people will know him as a member of Ian Dury and the Blockheads.
Norman is one of the most respected bassists in then business and if you go back to songs such as What a Waste, Clever Trevor, you can hear how good he is and how important this bass work was to the sound.
As a tribute, go to the film below (go to the third minute onwards) to find out about the early days and how he came to join The Blockheads.
Plus, the baselines are simple but so effective in this performance of Clever Trevor
