The wonderful sight of Red Kites hovering over Harlow

OVER the past few weeks, Red Kites have been seen hovering over Harlow.
YH saw one over Purford Green on Sunday morning and many other residents have spotted them across the town.
One of our readers, Alex contacted us and posed the question: “Has Harlow become Red Kite place to be?
“Thirty years ago the bird of prey, was reintroduced to this country in Wales. Gradually they have extended their territory across the southern part of Britain.
“A couple of years ago I saw one occassionally circling over Harlow. Today I observed six, in a close formation, over Northbrooks, plus two single Kites later in the day.
“It’s good news that a bird that had disappeared from our shores has been so successfully re-established in this country. Even better that we in Harlow can have the experience of seeing them”.
I think I saw a red kite today hovering over Quarry Spring and flying into the woods at the back next to the rugby club.
I've seen them recently hovering around Braintree in Essex and twice today I've seen a single one hovering from my back garden.
Saw a pair flying over canons Brook today Beautiful sight
I had one on the roof of my garage in Watersmeet this morning (Sunday) feeding on some scrap chicken I threw up for the magpies.
