Dispersal order in place in Harlow

Crime / Sat 17th Apr 2021 at 10:57pm

A DISPERSAL order under Section 34 of the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014 has been put in place across the Harlow district following information about a planned car meet.

The dispersal order gives officers the power to order people causing anti-social behaviour to leave the area. Breaching any direction given under the order is a criminal offence.

It is in place from 10.27pm tonight (Saturday 17 April) until 6am tomorrow morning (Sunday 18 April).
The dispersal order covers the area shown in the map including, River Way, Church Langley, Old Harlow and Harlow town centre.

Acting Inspector Tony Short said: “Not only do planned car meets cause significant disruption to the local community and its residents, but racing between cars and dangerous driving associated with these events also pose a real risk to both those that attend, and pedestrians or drivers who may be in the area at the time.

“Where necessary, we will continue to use additional resources available to us to prevent disruption and keep people safe.”
