FORMER player Darren Blewitt (pictured right) has been appointed to the role of Assistant Manager. He will be no stranger to Hawks fans after making 46 appearances in the 2013-14 season, a league campaign that saw him captain the team to the Isthmian League playoff final.
After his appointment, Darren spoke of his delight at re-joining the Club: “I haven’t stopped smiling. I’m over the moon and I’m so happy to be here.
“I was captain here, we had a successful year and I had a really good bond with the fans. I get on well with Chappo and we just want the best for the Club.”
Speaking just hours after the news that the Hawks will be playing in the Southern League for the upcoming season, he said: “It will be a new experience and we’ve got to take it as a new challenge. We’re excited, I haven’t played against a lot of the teams in the league. We’re looking forward to it and we’ll give it a good go.”
Chapman has also appointed Dan Middlehurst (pictured left) as Goalkeeping Coach.
Dan has been working with our academy goalkeepers for the past three and a half years and he also operates a goalkeeping school and half term football camps at the Harlow Arena. He also has previous coaching experience with the Harlow Town First Team.
Dan said: “I’m delighted to have been given the opportunity by Chappo to formally join the management coaching team. There’s a real positivity about the place and around the squad that’s being built”
He was also excited about the news: “It’s great that there is a completely clean slate. We will be an unknown entity to most and I look forward to the challenges ahead.”
Kate Farenden has also returned to her role as First Team Physiotherapist, while Thomas Church and Harry Chapman reprise their roles as First Team Assistants.
