CJs Fish and Chips officially opened this weekend in Wych Elm, much to the delight of local businesses in an area of Harlow with limited food options – until now!
Local businesses and staff from The Princess Alexandra Hospital are thrilled to have a new eatery serving hot, fresh food on their doorstep and queues outside are already forming over lunch time in the opening week.
Larraine Bayfield, a nursery nurse at PAH for the last 45 years said: “My colleagues and I are so pleased to have a quality fish and chip shop near the hospital. We all appreciate having a discount for NHS staff and look forward to having a Team break with fish and chips together instead of Pizza!!”
The extensive menu is cooked fresh to order, and includes traditional fish and chip shop favourites, savouries, burgers and chicken; as well as vegan and gluten free options available daily. The shops’ interior is bright and fresh – a warm and welcome surprise amidst the concrete units at Wych Elm.
CJs is a joint venture between Chris Whitbread and his family, and John Ansell. Ansell, formerly of Luigi’s at The Stow has jumped ship with his 25 years experience to head up the team at CJ’s. He seems to be taking lots of customers across with him, having grown a loyal following over the years for his beautifully cooked food, and early reviews indicate that the food coming out of CJs is second to none.
A new building development of one hundred and eighty flats are going up opposite the shop too which promises lots of foot fall for CJs later in the year.
CJs are now live for deliveries via Go Getters and their own click and collect service will be up and running soon. Look our for their gold wrapped Smart car affectionately named “Codfrey” who will be whizzing about the town making the deliveries.
Get down to CJs for fresh, fast, fantastic food with a smile. Its the new home of Fish & Chips in Harlow!”
