LAST Friday, the Minister for Railways, Chris Heaton-Harris MP, visited Harlow-based Land Sheriffs, following an invitation from Robert Halfon MP to see the remarkable work the company does in protecting Britain’s rail tracks.
Through their security work, the hard-working Land Sheriff staff have managed to prevent 345 suicide attempts on the rail network. Their highly trained staff patrol and monitor the train lines as far north as Kings Lynn, as far west as Reading and as far south as Brighton – including London and HS1.
Mr Heaton-Harris gave very high praise of the organisation and expressed how impressed he was with Land Sheriffs and their work.
Harlow’s MP, Robert Halfon, welcomed the Minister by saying: “It was a pleasure to welcome the Rail Minister to Land Sheriffs to see the brilliant work they have done in preventing 345 suicides on the railways and continue to do every single day.
“I want to pay tribute to the hundreds of Harlow residents who work at Land Sheriffs and do enormous amounts to protect our railways and keep people safe.”
