A NUMBER of members of the Harlow Running and Triathlon Club took part in the Centurion Metric Triathlon.
It was 2k sown, 82k bike and 16k run.
Coach Gail Nicholls reports:
“The swim was delightful, bike was brutal hilly and a rollercoaster like run. It was hard road and off road combined.
I was very happy with my result as thrown together in four weeks which isn’t good planning but used it as a training platform for my middle distance in August.
“I managed first in my age group which surprised me as it’s only my second in a slightly longer distance triathlon.
“I’m so proud of our Triathletes in this club stepping up to middle distance.
“We had an awesome Fieke Blackwell powerhouse performance and she came first overall in female plus first in her age group.
“Holly Nairn came third overall and third age group.
“Then our “iron maiden” Kerry Mavris with an amazing effort with an awesome run split and supersonic sprint to the finish line coming in second in her age group.
“I am also super proud of our newbie Claire Carter on her first Centurion. An awesome time overall going from strength to strength in her splits.
Then our wonderful Alan Cootes. Nothing seems to phase him in stepping up the distance and looked fresh as a daisy coming in at an amazing time upping his distance and first in age group.
“Lockdowns have come and gone but we are now upping our game to what lies ahead in the Triathlon season ahead.”
