HARLOW businesses can now apply for a new additional restrictions grant following Harlow Council receiving more funding from the government.

The Additional Restrictions Grant (ARG) scheme is a discretionary scheme to support businesses severely impacted by the national lockdown and coronavirus restrictions.

Harlow Council’s new scheme is aimed at those sectors that had to remain closed due to the 4-week delay in easing of restrictions, or those businesses impacted as a result of the delay. This includes the following sectors in:

  • Travel & tourism,
  • Wedding industries,
  • Wholesalers,
  • Events industries ,
  • Freelance & mobile businesses,
  • Breweries.

The scheme is also open to other businesses that may not have had grant funding from other schemes.

Councillor Russell Perrin, Portfolio Holder for Finance and Governance, said: “I am pleased to announce that our latest business grant scheme is now open and accepting applications. We are making sure that our scheme supports those types of businesses which have been impacted by the decision to delay the easing of restrictions.

“If your business has applied and received funding from the recent Additional Business Support scheme you may still be able to apply for more funding under our latest scheme. This new council is determined to ensure that businesses in our town get the help they need, because it is essential to the livelihoods of the business owners and the people they employ, and of critical importance to our town’s economic recovery.”

Applications for an additional restrictions grant will close at 5pm on Wednesday 25 August 2021.

Evidence of how the delay in easing of restrictions has impacted businesses and the ongoing fixed costs the business has will be required as part of the application.
