TRIBUTES have been pouring in after the death of a much loved Harlow resident.
Danny McCarthy has passed away at the age of 79.
Many will remember his shop, Dannys in The Stow, as well as his market stalls but above everything else, many will remember his warm personality.
Danny was born on October 4th, 1941 in West Ham.
He worked for a time as a Docker before moving to Harlow.
Danny leaves four children (Tracey, Claire, Shelley ad Danielle) as well as three great-grandchildren.
But he also leaves a huge well of goodwill and respect for a wonderful man.
Danny’s daughter Tracey told YH “He started up his markets in the seventies and went on to have the shop in The Stow as well.
“Latterly, many will remember his stall outside New Look in the town centre.
“He was a very kind man and very fair, unless of course you crossed him.
“Sometimes a person would go into buy something and they would be a few pounds short. He would just say “pay me the rest when you can. They always did because he built up so much respect.
“Just because he had four girls, didn’t mean we ran rings round him. I used to work with him on the markets and I think he sacked me every week! There used to be “Bring Tracey Back” campaigns and I would be back in a few days.
Danny’s funeral is at 3.15pm on Friday August 27th at Parndon Crematorium.
Tracey concluded” He was Harlow’s very own Del Boy. A diamond geezer with a heart of gold”
