A PLANNING application to put an electric charging bay in the BP Garage on Southern Way is back before the planning committee.
The committee rejected the application in June.
At the meeting, a local resident made an emotional appeal agains the chargers being placed so close to his house.
The consultants, acting on behalf of the applicants said:
For more details on the application, go to www.harlow.gov.uk and look for HW/FUL/21/00473
Great. There are so few places to charge in Harlow despite the council declaring a climate emergency years ago. I hope this is the start of many others like the water gardens etc. There aren’t many years left to get ready and EV ownership is rising rapidly. Even I’ve changed my shopping habits to go to Tesco which offers a free charge while you shop which costs so little to them but gets people shopping more. It’s a no brainier
Essex council have informed our MP that they have no intention of putting charging points in any village, essentially meaning only town residents get chargers , the rest of us who live outside a town are being ignored ! Why should I be expected to sit in my car at a commercial garage for hours on end paying a higher price than those who can charge a car at home?
