Statement from Fire Service

Firefighters were called to assist at the scene of a road traffic collision on the M11 on Monday evening.

On arrival, crews confirmed that five vehicles had been involved in the incident, which occurred on the northbound carriageway between junction 7 (Harlow) and junction 8 (Bishop’s Stortford). One person was trapped in a vehicle.

Firefighters worked hard to release the casualty by 9.51pm before leaving them in the care of the Ambulance Service.

The road is likely to remain closed for some time. Please avoid the area – follow @HighwaysEAST for the latest updates.

The M11 is closed northbound between Junction 7 and Junction 8 due to a collision

Essex police are in attendance. 

Diversion follow the solid diamond symbol

• Exit the M11 at J7
• Take the A414 eastbound to Ware
• Take the A10 northbound to Puckeridge
• take the A120 eastbound
• Re-join the M11 at J8

Delays are likely on approach to the closures, with additional journey times also expected on diversion routes.
