Planning bid to demolish garages in the Arkwrights
Planning / Mon 30th Aug 2021 at 12:36pm
A PLANNING application to demolish a number of garages in the Arkwrights area of Harlow has been submitted.
The garages are located a 33-74 And 74-77 Arkwrights.
The garages are surplus to Harlow Council’s requirements for garage assets in the estate, and so the council wish to demolish them to provide space for un-allocated hardstand parking.
The full application can be seen at

Fold Croft, Kerril Croft, Hobtoe Road, how about these areas, the parking is abysmal it’s hell trying to find anywhere to park
A with other bright ideas and proposals to demolish other garages, the parking gain will be minimal. Someone at the Council has a crackpot idea and The Council bulldoze blindly on, not really solving the problem, try talking to residents who might have better ideas and or as in other towns, building secure local multi story or underground car parks for residents.

Nooooo please don't demolish these garages, I had so many happy times playing in and around here. After 57 years I have now moved back to this area and love walking past these garages, and fondly remembering the great times. Plleeaazze
I wouldnt worry the way its going they wont do anything for another 50 years some old grump has spoken about his 1 bike and its storage use, so you can enjoy the thrown rubbish, decay, drug deals, bad repair work, unlicensed cars and the entire row of desolate and damaged garages for years to come!
We have attempted several times to rent a garage opposite Woodleys Flats. We were told that none were available and they were not in a suitable condition to rent. They have been empty for years. No wonder there are issues being left derelict what does anyone expect. Double parking down Minchen Road to the Stow area is absolutely crazy. Momples Road is is in a disgusting state and will not cope with more cars, it is full of crate holes that are getting bigger by the day. No repairs are carried out. Strange that Minchen Road got repaired. The plan to demolish the garages and build houses on the tennis courts is ridiculous when there is little enough parking as it is in the area. Priority should be parking facilities for the houses already in the area.
